The Stuckats Project
A short introduction
by Donald Takeshita-Guy

Stuckats is an inclusive art movement I started working on in 2014.

Actually It started by accident when a gallery I’d been working with offered me an exhibition slot with only 5 days notice. I’d recently I’d recently visited Charles Thomson, the leader of an influential art group known as the Stuckists. He showed me his amazing collection of paintings and I’d noticed quite a lot of them were paintings of cats. So I came up with the name Stuckats, made a few phone calls to other artists I knew and I was confident I could curate a show in the time available. From there the idea has grown and grown and grown and I’ve curated over 20 big and small Stuckats shows.

And now I’ll tell you what I’ve learnt:
Everybody LOVES painting CATS!
Even people who haven’t ever ever painted in their whole lives will have a go at painting a cat.
Even some quite famous painters who wouldn’t be seen dead painting anything else will paint a cat if you ask.
In case you’re wondering that’s why I call it an inclusive art movement. .
So what are you wanting for:

Paint a Cat!

And now you’ve got a chance to enter our annual open Stuckats Exhibition.
