Live jazz
1st and 3rd Saturday from 12 to 3
Jazztronica Jam
Our very own experimenatal combo will be playing a live set joined by a selection of guest soloist.
If you want to join in just bring your instrument and speak to us.
In between the live sets our house DJ plays some of the best modal and atonal music from the last 70 years.
From Miles Davis and Ornette Coleman in the late 1950s to the latest Jazztronica and Nu Jazz records being made at the moment.
Plus a selction of electronic music that crosses the boundary beween Jazz and experimental sounds, and sometimes heads for the far corners of the zone where only pure noise exists.
For us modal Jazz started with Miles Davis’s 1969 record “Kind of Blue” and in particualr the first track “So What”.
Untill his death in 1991 Miles worked with some incredible musicians – John Coltrane, Waybe Shorter, Cannonball Adderly, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk. Chick Corea. Herbie Hancock – to name just a few.
We’ll start each session by playing a whole LP by one of this select collection of musicians.
Admission for all events is free to anyone who comes along and buys a hot or cold drink at our cafe.
A small selection of snacks and food will be available.
Our Mission
To takes the elitismt of Jazz and make it an inclusive activity for all.
Later in the year we’ll be launching a 10 week beginners Jazz improvisation course,
